Our Role
SRI is a key part of our business. Peter Holden and Giles Chitty were pioneers of SRI in the UK and our expertise in this field is exceptional. We can help you apply social principles to your investments in a practical way and, importantly, we are able to compare them to conventional alternatives.
We believe that you don´t have to sacrifice your principles to make money and we apply the same logic to SRI investments as we do to non-SRI ones. Whether clients hold shares directly or via a collective fund such as a unit trust or OEIC, our aim is that they will perform as well as they would if the socially responsible criteria were not in place.
"Investors should be selecting ethical funds, managed on environmental agendas and not simply based on negative criteria. While the economic downturn may temporarily shake confidence in the markets, in the medium term we are in the midst of major economic change. Environmental markets are seeing growth of 20% to 30% per annum and given the problems that environmental companies are aiming to solve are so far from being fixed, given population growth and resource constraints, investors need to see environmental investing not as “green”, but for what it is: solid investment, based on sound principles.” - Mark Hoskin, Holden & Partners, 6th May 2008.
